Spoiled by HD Graphics?

Hello all,
Oooohh im making a thread in the gaming section
Scary stuff,
Anyways, I'll cut to the chase...

How many time have you gone back to play a game on an earlier platform
ie. PS1, Game Boy, ect..
And the poor graphics have given you a headache?

It's happened to me so many times,
It hurts my eyes yet i used to love those games and played them without a problem

Some examples?

I went on youtube to veiw FF7 clips, cause I was a KH fan before i was a FF fan and i remember watching Advent Children not knowing what the heck was going on,
Im like "Why does Aerith keep apearing in this ridiculous white room with odd daffodil flowers in it?
So I youtubed FF7 to watch Aerith die
Those were aparently considered "good" graphics, yet i couldn't watch them for very long cause my head killed me.

Even playing my Spyro games, my old toy story game (LOOOOOL) ect hurts so much

I remember playing Lemmings on my friend's old Sega, My brain bled, I had to squint to play it cause the graphic quality hurt my eyes...

The odd thing is people played these games before hand hours on end and there were no problems. Have we been spoiled?

i think it's because it was the best that could be made before and ppl were marveling at what computers could do. now, however, computers can almost perfectly synthesize an avatar of a person and have it seem almost a perfect copy, so that marveling at the graphics is gone.

also, i felt like that a few weeks ago when i went back to playing Ocarina of Time, but after an hour i got used to it. then got it again for a sec when i became adult link

I think we still are sometimes awe-struck by really good graphics, at least I am,
I remember seeing the CGI clips for the KH games for the first game going "Oh my gosh WOW!" and also was marvelled by the cinematics that the nintendo DS could hold up. It struck me completely off guard. But then after you see good graphics in games.... some how you're always comparing aren't you?

yes. it's not necessarily that we are spoiled, but that it no longer seems as real as it did when we were marveling at the graphics.

puting it in graphic art terms... at the times they were considered "good graphics", it seemed almost real and had a definite flow. now that the marveling at the graphics is gone from those games, the flow is broken

I played Devil May Cry 4 before I played Devil May Cry 3.
I think that's a good example. x_x

I ran back to my PS3 as soon as I beat that one.

and like when i went back to playing virtually every game after i played the first Crysis Game (XD)

Tip of the hat to all those game developers and programmers over at Crytec Very Happy

over 2 years old and Crysis still has graphics atleast equal with the newest games.

... granted, it also still lags the most out of all these games >_>

Oh you're more advanced than me,
im still on my ps2.
but i mean even between ps2 and ps1 there's a huge difference
i can't even imagine between 3 and 1.

try 3rd gen computer gaming and then going to play n64 games!

... or even twilight princess (which is technically 3rd gen...) and then back to n64

Oh dear lord. I plan on buying the rerelease of FFVII which is on the PS3 network.
I wont survive it, I know it. D:

It's just a rerelease so probably the only things that were fixed were the typos. XD

I'll be honest.
I can't even play the original CoM on my brother's DS. I need three dimensional figures. x_x
