So this has been a rather large aspect of the news over here lately, and I'm wondering how many of you know about it. As far as I know now, there have been 3 earthquakes over the areas, killing more than 1000 people

If your talking about the one a few days ago...
we were worried about it hitting us in NZ
but it was only tiny when it hit, so yea. I heard about the deaths though ! Horrible!
Was it as bad as the really bad one about 5 years ago though?

Worse. There have now been 4 earthquakes around the areas. The latest one that occurred was about 1 hour ago, but apparently has not affected anyone

that's shocking!
All bad ones?
maybe its an unstable plate, and its raging? fault lines can be unpredictable.

I once saw the tectonic plate map, i felt safe to know that Australia was not on any fault lines.

you might be but in NZ one runs through our capital city of Wellington... That said no-one really lives there hehehe Auckland is like over 10 times bigger... Dunno why they don't move capital there is would make sense but then Wellington would die... Its a horrid windy place anyway that always gets quakes.
We had a 9.5 of the Southern coast of the South island of NZ a few months back or maybe it was 9.7 it was a massive quake!
